“I am a contemporary artist who specializes in abstract paintings.  My focus is almost solely on the texture of a painting by using various layering techniques.  I don’t set out to create a specific piece.  I’ve learned that doesn’t work for me.  I can take a blank canvas and have a solid idea in my mind and guarantee that the finished product will look nothing like it.  It’s an exercise in quieting my mind and trusting my intuition to guide my hands and allow the painting to flow through me.  I become the vehicle for creative expression through painting.

All of my inspirations come from some type of emotional experience.  I use the canvas as a way to express myself in a non-verbal manner.  I don’t paint to meet a demand or market.  I paint until I like something - and I know I like it when I look at it and recognize it as something I would hang in my own home.

I like colors, but tend to gravitate toward earth tones and metallics.  When I travel, I find that there’s always a new perspective to create from when looking at architecture, nature and the people around us.  I believe my work is an interpretation or abstract expression based on those colors.

When people see or comment on my work, I find it enlightening or almost therapeutic.  I especially like when they notice something subtle in a piece and when they express how it makes them feel.  To evoke emotion from someone viewing one of my pieces is remarkable and humbling.  My heart is happiest in these moments and I know that I’m making the most of the gifts I have been given.”
